2012 RECOGNITION AWARD NOMINATION
The Delphi Preservation Society’s Recognition Awards recognize outstanding contributions to the preservation of
Carroll County’s historic structures. The Recognition Awards are presented at the Delphi Preservation Society’s
annual meeting.

The awards will be made to property owners or organizations which have had properties nominated by
members of the Delphi Preservation Society. Nominated properties are judged by the Recognition Awards
Committee. The awards are framed certificates from the DPS suitable for display in the property. A bronze
plaque to be mounted on the property will also be made available

Properties will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Remained true to the buildings original architectural style.
  • The property is greater than 50 years old.
  • Properties shall be judged on the exterior of the property only.
  • Must be located in Deer Creek Township or the immediately surrounding townships.
  • Need not be recently or ever restored.
  • The structure does not need to be listed on the Carroll County Interim Report or National Register of
    Historic Places.

In 2008 the DPS Board of Directors elected to increase the number of Awards from a single award to as many
as seven awards. Each Award may be presented each year, but does not necessarily have to be awarded. If no
outstanding nomination is received, the individual award may not be presented. You will also note that two of the
awards will not be made to recognize structures but will be made to recognize individuals or groups who have
made outstanding contributions to local preservation.
Awards to be presented for Structures or Sites:
Historic Residence Pre-1920--Meets above criteria, but be built prior to 1920.
Historic Residence Post-1920--Meets above criteria, but be built after 1920.

Historic Church Award--Must meet the above criteria and built originally as a house of worship.
